shanghai, china, november 9, 2016 embedway, a leading provider of industry intelligent infrastructure products and solutions, and centec networks, a leading innovator of ethernet switching silicon and sdn white box solutions, and today jointly introduced the new 10 gigabit sdn whiteboard switch solution exswitch6400. the program is based on fujitsu's mature gigabit switch chip ctc8096 (goldengate) and can be equipped with intel cpu. it provides 40ge / 100ge uplinks on the basis of up to 48 ports of 10gbe, and provides high performance / price ratio. a new option for the 10 gigabit sdn white-card solution. the embedway exswitch6400 series switches fill an important gap in the sdn market for flexible, cost-effective, open-networking solutions that meet the demanding requirements of enterprise and telco datacenters without tying them to proprietary solutions.

the embedway exswitch6400 series fully supports ocp hardware design guidelines, including ocp’s open network install environment (onie) for odm and other bare metal switches using multiple operating systems such as openswitch. it also supports ocp’s switch abstraction interface (sai) to standardize the switch software development kit (sdk) interface. centec’s golden gate silicon minimizes the exswitch6400 switch’s latency and power consumption, and the switch is optionally extensible with an intel cpu card that ideally positions it for data center top of rack (tor) switching as well as network functions virtualization (nfv), hyperconvegence, and security appliance applications.

according to the research firm international data corporation (idc), the worldwide software-defined networking (sdn) market — comprising physical network infrastructure, virtualization/control software, sdn applications (including network and security services), and professional services — will have a compound annual growth rate (cagr) of 53.9% from 2014 to 2020 and will be worth nearly $12.5 billion in 2020.  “although sdn initially found favor in hyperscale datacenters and at large-scale cloud service providers, it is winning adoption in a growing number of enterprise datacenters across a broad range of vertical markets,” idc said, indeed, sdn delivers the agility, flexibility, and programmability that align closely with idc's 3rd platform for it, especially for public and private cloud rollouts.”
